Can't knock down a wall? No problem! Here are some little magic tricks to make even the smallest bathroom look bigger.

Many of us have the problem of finding the bathroom at home too small. Whether it's the master bathroom or a small guest bathroom, the space may never seem enough. Since no one likes the oppressive feeling of being in a small space, here are some tips to make any bathroom feel larger. It may just be a feeling, but it's something, right?

1. Brighten the room

Make the room as bright as possible. Whether natural or artificial, light will make a small, dark space feel more spacious.

  • Wall colors: Paint the walls and ceiling the same color, aiming for something light and bright. This will make the room seem much larger than it actually is. Whenever you decide to use different colors on different walls, the room will appear cut into several pieces, making it seem smaller.
  • Lights: If you don't have the possibility of using natural light because the room doesn't have enough windows, I recommend using LED lights installed on the walls or, even better, on the ceiling to illuminate the room.

2. Add mirrors

Place a large mirror — or several — in your bathroom. The reflected light will transform the small space into something larger and more spacious.

3. Space-saving shelves and wall units

Try to use — instead of heavy floor units — space-saving shelves and small wall units that will allow you to make your bathroom appear more spacious while also making the room more modern. Niches that can be created directly inside the walls, for example inside the shower, could also be very useful in this regard. This will allow you to increase the storage surfaces and, if well lit, will contribute to a spectacular atmosphere.

4. Eliminate clutter

Nothing makes a room smaller and messier than... clutter! So a piece of advice is "if you don't need it there, put it somewhere else." Keep the bare essentials in a small space.

5. Flush-to-the-floor shower tray

It may seem silly, but the shower tray also plays a big role in defining a bathroom. For this reason, flush-mounted models are perfect for small spaces, as they don't create a sharp contrast with the flooring.

6. Wall-hung sanitary ware

Bathroom furnishings can be one of the strengths or weaknesses of a room. Wall-hung sanitary ware can be a great help both functionally and aesthetically if the space is small.

7. Light-colored floors

Just like with walls, the same rule applies to floors. A dark floor will cancel out the effect of the walls, making the space feel more enclosed.

Just a few changes in your small bathroom can make a huge difference and make the room seem much larger. Once you've tried these little tips for your bathroom, you can extend them to the whole house!

The secret is simply to create an illusion.
