The data presented by ISTAT in relation to the new and used housing market confirm a price recovery in the second quarter of 2019, i.e. the period between April and June. In this period prices increased by an average of 1.3% compared to the previous three months, bringing them in line with the values of a year ago. In short, the drop in prices that had characterized the last months of 2018 has been recovered, above all thanks to the more evident increase in the prices of new homes.
The recovery in prices is recorded in a market that continues to grow, with the number of sales increasing (+3.9% in the second quarter, the second period of growth after the +8.8% of the first three months of 2019).
The increase in prices in 2018 is not only recorded in some areas of the country, but the positive trend involves all geographical zones. While the North-West and North-East continue to grow at +0.2% and +1.7%, prices in the Centre, South and Islands are slightly decreasing (-1.0%), more contained, however, than in previous months.
Focusing on some cities, Milan confirms its strong growth, with an increase in house prices that reached +6.9%, confirming the attractiveness of the city's market in 2019. Prices also continue to rise in Turin (+1.7%), while Rome recorded a -2.8% in the second quarter of 2019.
