The city center is often the most sought-after area to buy a house, both for access to services, shops, schools, and for the context in which you will live. How much are you willing to spend to live in the center, compared to the outskirts?
Here's what emerges from the data from the research center of Idealista relating to the difference in prices in the central and non-central areas of Italian cities.
Record prices both in the center and throughout the city in both Milan and Rome, whose price averages are decidedly higher than other Italian cities. In Milan, buying a house in the central area, where the price per square meter is on average €8,300, costs almost three times as much (+182%) than the city average, with a value per square meter of €3,289.
In the Capital, buying a house in the center costs just over double (+111%) than the city average - the central areas have a price of €6,023 per square meter, while the city sees an average of 2,865 euros. The most expensive central areas are Trastevere and Monti.
In Turin the difference between the center and the rest of the city is smaller: if 2,799 euros per square meter are needed for a home in the center, the city average is 1,589 euros (+76%). Finally, in Florence the difference is decidedly smaller: only 20%, also because almost the entire city is considered the center.
